Prayer: Our God in heaven, you who are the absolute sovereign of all things because you made all things and have decreed all things, we bless your name today because we are told to trust you because you care for your people. We face uncertain days in our lives as we exercise the privilege to vote for our national and local leaders. We know that your Word tells us that the heart of the king is in your hands and that you turn him wherever you desire. We know that you exalt people to positions of authority and that you do so for the good of your church. We confess that your providence is often a mystery to us and that we sometimes grumble and complain at your actions. Forgive us for our weak faith and for failing to believe what you have told your church -- that you love her and care for her and protect her and will bring her safely to her heavenly rest.

Prayer: Our God in heaven, we are grateful to you for your many mercies and for your constant care and protection in a world that is wrecked by sin. We find that we are often consumed with the uncertainty of our world and the concerns that we often face. We thank you that your eye is always upon us and that you are governing the affairs of this world in order to bring everything under the feet of your Son. We are blessed to know that you regard your people with love -- a love that never wavers. Forgive us, Father, for failing to see things in a way that your Word tells us. Forgive us for taking our eyes off the things that are above and becoming enamored with the fleeting things of this life.

We reflect on our lives and see your hand of providence guiding every step we take. We thank you that you are a kind and gracious Father who pities us and cares for us. We look to you as the one we can trust and rest. We thank you for your Son, who has proven your love for us. Forgive us for the times that we wander and worry. Forgive us for not looking to you for all things -- small and great.

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, you alone are holy. Your Word tells us that you are the thrice-holy God who is to be feared and adored. You have revealed yourself to your creatures and shown us that you are a God of loving-kindness and compassion. You gave us your Law and set before us your moral demands that display your righteousness and perfection. Yet, we are ashamed in reading and hearing them because we break them and sin against you daily in thought, word, and deed.

We confess that we are not always patient with others, often responding in harsh ways with our words and actions. Forgive us for failing to see how kind and compassionate you are towards us and help us to strive to be temperate, gentle, and long-suffering with others.

Prayer: Our God in heaven, we look out across our land and our world, and we see so many people living in rebellion against you. We witness the depravity of wicked people being exercised in the street. We hear the speech that is laden with vitriol and language that displeases you. We look, and we take note that men made in your image, with the law of God written on their hearts, are living in complete rebellion to your law and your holy demands. We are ashamed of these image-bearers and all of their actions. We know that if not for the glorious gospel, we too would walk as they walk. We, too, would be like these people who are darkened in their understanding…
