Bible Reading in 2025-2026

Two-year Bible Reading Plan

As Christians living in this day and age, we should be very thankful for the ubiquitous nature of God’s Word. We have it in the mediums of audio and print. God has been very gracious to the church to ensure that we have the very Word of God in our language. In his wisdom, God ensured we would have the Bible for the church's edification. As the Westminster Confession of Faith, 1..1 states:

I. Although the light of nature, and the works of creation and providence, do so far manifest the goodness, wisdom, and power of God, as to leave men inexcusable; yet are they not sufficient to give that knowledge of God, and of his will, which is necessary unto salvation; therefore it pleased the Lord, at sundry times, and in divers manners, to reveal himself, and to declare that his will unto his Church; and afterwards, for the better preserving and propagating of the truth, and for the more sure establishment and comfort of the Church against the corruption of the flesh, and the malice of Satan and of the world, to commit the same wholly unto writing; which maketh the holy Scripture to be most necessary; those former ways of God’s revealing his will unto his people being now ceased. (Emphasis Added)

Of course, it is important that we read God’s Word daily, meditating and immersing ourselves in it. There are many ways to read the Bible. There are times when a serious study of a topic, theme, or passage is necessary. There are other times when we should just read it to learn what it says. As a pastor, I remain convinced that we live in a day when Biblical ignorance is high. With all the ways we can study the Bible, there isn’t an excuse for this sad indictment.

As a pastor, I encourage my congregation to read the Holy Scriptures. I encourage them to read it daily in private and in family worship. This reading plan aims to take the student of God’s Word systematically through God’s Word. This plan will cover the Old Testament once, the New Testament twice, the Psalms three times, and the Proverbs twice. The focus of the family worship time will be the New Testament.

I pray that the Lord will use this plan to encourage faithful reading of Scripture and consistent, useful times of family worship. I will write a brief devotional for each reading to further aid in this goal, complete with applications and discussion questions. They will be posted on this website each day. Additionally, you will be able to download them in PDF format.

May the Lord bless his church as they read and learn from him as they read his Word.
