Week Ending November 9, 2024

Parents, and especially fathers, are called to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Deut. 6:7; Eph. 6:4). One aspect of this calling is to faithfully lead your family in family worship. There are many ways to do that. Below are some suggested family readings and topics of conversation.

Read Philippians 2:12-13. What is the doctrine of “divine concurrence,” as explained in the sermon? How is this doctrine expressed in these verses? What other examples of “divine concurrence” can you name?

Read Genesis 3:20-24. How does the passage define the name “Eve”? What are the implications of that name? What is Adam's relationship with Eve? What implication does that bring to the institution of marriage?

Read Philippians 2:12-13. Paul tells the Philippians to “work out their own salvation.” Does Paul teach a “works-righteousness in this passage, or does the meaning of “salvation” take a broader concern?  What does it look like to “work out your salvation”?
