Parents, and especially fathers, are called to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Deut. 6:7; Eph. 6:4). One aspect of this calling is to faithfully lead your family in family worship. There are many ways to do that. Below are some suggested family readings and topics of conversation.

~Lord’s Day, Jan. 21~

Read Hebrews 4:14-16. Consider the office of priest. What is involved with being a priest?  Discuss a few of the more prominent priests of the Old Testament. Extra: Read Lev. 16

~Monday, Jan. 22~

Read Hebrews 4:14-16. Discuss the reasons why the Lord Jesus is the “great” high priest. Discuss the ways he is different than the earthly priests of the tribe of Levi. See Gen. 14; Heb. 7

~Tuesday, Jan. 23~

Read Hebrews 4:14-16. Discuss the importance of Jesus being a “living” priest. Discuss the implications of this truth.

~Wednesday, Jan. 24~

Read Hebrews 4:14-16. Discuss what it means to be “sympathetic” towards someone. Discuss the reasons Jesus is sympathetic toward his people.

~Thursday, Jan. 25~

Read Hebrews 4:14-16. Discuss what should happen due to this sympathetic high priest as you live the Christian life. Discuss what it means to “hold fast your confession.”

~Friday, Jan. 26~

Read Hebrews 4:14-16. Discuss what it means to “draw near to the throne of grace.” Discuss the imagery of a “throne” and how it relates to prayer.

~Saturday, Jan. 27~

Read Hebrews 4:14-16. Compare and contrast: Jesus as your high priest and Jesus as a judge. Discuss the benefits that flow from this great high priest. Supplemental: Use the worship guide sent by the pastor on Saturday in preparation for worship on Jan. 28.
