Family Worship: February 4-10, 2024

Parents, and especially fathers, are called to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Deut. 6:7; Eph. 6:4). One aspect of this calling is to faithfully lead your family in family worship. There are many ways to do that. Below are some suggested family readings and topics of conversation.

~Lord’s Day, Feb. 4~

Read Psalm 23. Consider and discuss what is necessary for the Lord to be your shepherd. Discuss what it looks like for the Lord to be your judge. Discuss the various functions of a shepherd.

~Monday, Feb. 5~

Read Hosea 8. Discuss the farming analogy of “sowing and reaping.” What should those who love God sow in their lives? How can they do that? Discuss what happens when you sow godliness. Discuss what happens when you sow unrighteousness.

~Tuesday, Feb. 6~

Read Psalm 23. What things does the Good Shepherd do to care for your soul? What do those things look like today?

~Wednesday, Feb. 7~

Read Hosea 8. Discuss the mention of the trumpet in 8:1. What does that signify? Why are the people being warned?

~Thursday, Feb. 8~

Read Psalm 23. In 23:2-3 there are four references to the actions of the Good Shepherd. What are they? Discuss the meaning of each and apply them to your life.

~Friday, Feb. 9~

Read Hosea 8. Discuss 8:6. To what other Old Testament story does this refer? What is the sin highlighted by the verse? How do you commit this sin today?

~Saturday, Feb. 10~

Read Psalm 23. 23:4 describes the valley of the shadow of death. There are several reasons why God’s people do not have to fear. What are they? Extra: Use the worship guide sent by the pastor on Saturday in preparation for worship on Feb. 11
