Daily Prayer for the Lord's Day, January 26, 2025: Philippians 3:17-4:1

Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.
(Phil. 3:17-4:1, ESV)

Prayer: Our Father, we praise you for providentially granting us another Lord's Day to gather with your people and praise you for your marvelous work and great salvation purchased through the blood of the Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ. We thank you for giving us voices to lift in song to you. You are our God, and we are your people, and we seek your face today, knowing that our lives depend on your covenant faithfulness to us. We thank you for your Word and for giving us men and women of godly character and zeal that we can follow and emulate as we pilgrim to our heavenly rest. We know there are many enemies of the cross of Christ. We know that if we are not careful, we can be misled by them and their ungodly ways and false doctrines. We are warned to avoid them because their end is the place of eternal judgment and torment. We are advised to avoid emulating them because they do not seek your ways but their own. Please forgive us, Father, for following those who do not point us to Christ. Please grant us godly people in our churches that we can follow as they follow the Lord Jesus. Please give us godly friends to enjoy, and please give us sweet fellowship with them we ask and pray through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
