Daily Prayer for the Lord's Day: February 9, 2025 (Philippians 4:4-7)
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7, ESV)
Prayer: We bless and praise your Name, O Most High because you have redeemed us from sin and misery and given us hope for today and tomorrow. Through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ, we have a sure confidence in your promises, knowing that you, our Father, care about us. Indeed, you care for every need we experience in this sin-wrecked world. Your eye is always on the sparrow, and you clothe the fields with wonderful things, and you are mindful of those you purposed to redeem out of a love that never started and will never end. We thank you for your care and concern for our lives. We thank you for your pity, kindness, and compassion. Though we know these things are true, we sometimes find it hard to rejoice in you.
Yet, we have many reasons to rejoice. We confess that we often allow our circumstances to rob us of the joy that we find through the work of the Savior. We confess that we frequently worry about things we cannot control. You have told us not to worry. You have told us to pour out our hearts before you. Sadly, we often pray for things that do not truly reflect the emotions and cares of our hearts. Please forgive us, Father. Please make us a praying, trusting, and rejoicing people. Please help us to remember that your eye is always on us, and you will never forget your redeemed people. Please help us, we ask through the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
