Family Worship: July 7-13, 2024
Parents, especially fathers, are called to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Deut. 6:7; Eph. 6:4). One aspect of this calling is to lead your family in family worship faithfully. There are many ways to do that. Below are some suggested family readings and topics of conversation.
~Lord’s Day, July 7~
Read 1 Tim. 2:8-10. Discuss the instruction Paul gives to the church in 2:8. Discuss the phrase “lifting holy hands.” What does that mean?
~Monday, July 8~
Read 1 Tim. 2:8-10. Discuss the qualifiers to godly prayer as listed in 1 Tim. 2:8.
~Tuesday, July 9~
Read 1 Tim.2:8-10. Discuss the instructions to the ladies of the church. What does Paul mean by “modesty”?
~Wednesday, July 10~
Read 1 Tim. 2:8-10. Discuss the issues Paul presents regarding “braided hair, gold or pearls or costly attire.” Formulate a working definition of modesty as a family (or as an individual).
~Thursday, July 11~
Read 1 Tim 2:8-10. Discuss the importance of self-control. Why does Paul direct his words to the ladies of the church in 2:9-10?
~Friday, July 12~
Read 1 Tim. 2:8-10. This section of 1 Tim 2 involves matters related to corporate worship. Discuss the importance of prayer and proper modesty, and self-control as it relates to worship.
~Saturday, July 13~
Prepare for worship this Lord’s Day by reading and discussing the Sermon Text. Use the “Worship Preparation Guide” sent out by the Pastor.
