Parents, and especially fathers, are called to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Deut. 6:7; Eph. 6:4). One aspect of this calling is to faithfully lead your family in family worship. There are many ways to do that. Below are some suggested family readings and topics of conversation.

~Lord’s Day, Jan. 28~

Read Psalm 2. Consider the office of a king. What is involved with being a king?  Discuss a few of the more prominent kings of the Old Testament.

~Monday, Jan. 29~

Read Hosea 7. Discuss the implications of 7:2: “God remembers all their evil.” Discuss the sin mentioned in 7:4 (adultery). How do God’s people commit adultery today?

~Tuesday, Jan. 30~

Read Psalm 2. What is the context of the Psalm? What is the purpose of the opening question in 2:1? What is God’s response to the kings of the earth?

~Wednesday, Jan. 31~

Read Hosea 7. Discuss the sin mentioned in 7:10. Why is pride a hindrance to repentance? Why is pride an evil sin against God?

~Thursday, Feb. 1~

Read Psalm 2. Discuss the importance of the reference to “Zion, my holy hill.” Who is installed on the throne of this city? How does he accomplish it?

~Friday, Feb. 2~

Read Hosea 7. Discuss the sins mentioned in 7:13, 14. What does it look like to stray from God? What is the source of all sin? What is the solution to straying from God and sinning against him?

~Saturday, Feb. 3~

Read Psalm 2. What actions will the king of Psalm 2 perform on the nations? What exhortation is given in the psalm, and what are the reasons? Extra: Use the worship guide sent by the pastor on Saturday in preparation for worship on Feb. 4.
