Daily Prayer for the Lord's Day: February 2, 2025 (Philippians 4:2-3)
I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
(Philippians 4:2-3, ESV)
Prayer: We wake this morning, most holy and benevolent Father, embracing another Lord's Day that reminds us that we are your unique people purchased by the blood of the Lamb. On this day, you remind us that we do not belong to this world, though we pilgrim through it, awaiting the dawning of the great day when the Lord Jesus returns to bring us where he is. We are filled with joy because we have the privilege to gather with others that you have redeemed to sing your praises and hear from you as your Word is read and preached. Please give us joy in your great salvation and move our hearts to love to be in your presence and that of our brothers and sisters. Please bless the preaching of your Word today, and may it bear fruit in our lives, encouraging us to walk faithfully with you and others.
We confess, our God, that sometimes we are not at peace with others. We confess that our pride and arrogance create divisions between our brothers and sisters. You have told us to strive for the unity of the faith and to be at peace with all men as much as it depends on us. We confess that we allow silly, trivial things to affect our love for others. We know this displeases you and is contradictory to what we do each Lord's Day in worship as we sit as one people, one body, to hear from you and drink from the cup of your Son. Please forgive us. Please help us to love as the Savior loves. Please help us to restore broken relationships and strive to walk humbly with you and others. We pray all these things, knowing that you hear your people and will bless and help them through Christ our Lord. Amen.
