Prayer: Grant almighty God that your people would be a praying people. Too often, we move through our day, engaging in thing after thing and exerting effort on effort to accomplish all that is needful in this life, all without devoting the day to prayer. Sadly, we fail to heed the counsel of your Word and trust in you with all of our heart and lean not on our own understanding. Rarely do we commit our ways to you in prayer. We know that we "can do more than pray after [we have] prayed, but [we]we cannot do more than pray until [we] have prayed.” Forgive us, Father, for us for living prayerless lives. Please impress our hearts the great need to labor on our knees in fervent prayer for our souls, the souls of others, our nation and world, and our loved ones. Please be patient with us and teach us to pray we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.
