Daily Prayer for January 21, 2025: Psalm 15
O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
He who walks blamelessly and does what is right
and speaks truth in his heart;
who does not slander with his tongue
and does no evil to his neighbor,
nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
but who honors those who fear the Lord;
who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
who does not put out his money at interest
and does not take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things shall never be moved.
(Psalm 15:1-5)
Prayer: Our Father, we know that no flesh can see your face and live. You are too holy for mere mortals to look upon. You dwell in unapproachable light, yet you do invite us into your presence through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. We desire to dwell with you. We long for that comfortable presence that our first parents forfeited. We know that we have no inherent claim to the Most Holy Place. Yet, we can come boldly through the blood of the Great High Priest. We thank you for saving us and giving us access to you. We thank you that you love us with an eternal love and welcome us as the apple of your eye. We confess, Father, that these items in this Psalm are hard for us to do. We sin in so many ways. We fall short of these things and know that the only One who can say, "I can sojourn, and I can dwell with you" is your Son. He lived all of these things perfectly and he did it for our sakes. Please help us, Father. Please, give us more of your Spirit so that we may serve and honor you in these ways. We pray these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
