Daily Prayer for February 10, 2025: Psalm 29

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,
    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
    the God of glory thunders,
    the Lord, over many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;
    the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
    the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf,
    and Sirion like a young wild ox.

7 The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
    the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

9 The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth
    and strips the forests bare,
    and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
    the Lord sits enthroned as king forever.
11 May the Lord give strength to his people!
    May the Lord bless his people with peace!
(Psalm 29:1-11, ESV)

Prayer: Almighty God, you alone are holy, and there is no God like you. You have revealed yourself in your work of creation and providence. You have told us who you are and what you require in your Word. You have given your Word that we would know the path to righteousness through the work of your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. You alone have done this work. It is not something man could do, for they are mere creatures of dust, ensnared in sin. We, too, were once that way when our minds were darkened, and our lives were continually full of evil. Yet, Father, you were pleased to rescue us. and because you did, we owe you that praise and honor fitting for your marvelous works. Therefore, Father, we ascribe to you the glory due to your name. We ascribe to you praise for your might in creating the world and toppling the mighty. We ascribe to you your right to rule and reign in the world you have made and only ask that you will teach us to walk humbly with you, submitting ourselves each day to your Kingship. Please, our Father, may you grant us the strength we need to serve you, our King. Please help us by the Eternal Spirit to honor you and worship you with our thoughts, words, and actions. These things we pray through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
