Daily Prayer for December 9, 2024
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work (2 Tim. 3:16-17, ESV)
I have stored up your Word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you. (Psa. 119:11, ESV)
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (Josh. 1:8, ESV)
Prayer: Our Father, you are kind and gracious in revealing yourself to us through the written Word. We thank you for giving it to us as a light to our path because without it, we would wander in darkness and lose our way. We thank you that you promise to supply us with all our needs, but we know that we do not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from your mouth. We thank you for your Word being inerrant and infallible, and, as such, we can trust it because you gave it. We further thank you for ordaining your Word’s preaching as the living voice of the Good Shepherd to his sheep that he gave his life to redeem. We pray for you to help us remember what we hear each Lord’s Day. Please be gracious and make us diligent hearers and faithful doers of your Word. Without it, we would have no hope in this world. We also know that we fall short of what it commands us to do. We confess we sin against you daily in thought, Word, and deed. Though we are embarrassed by this truth, we are grateful that you forgive us because you are faithful and just to restore us into fellowship with you. Please help us, Lord, to meditate on your Word day and night. Please give us the grace to remember what we read and study, and may it make us holy as you are holy.
As we enter a new year, please bless and guide your church as you have promised to do. We live in difficult days, and our culture is becoming bolder in opposing your Word. We know the only hope is the Lord Jesus Christ, the living Word. Therefore, we pray that you do what we cannot do: open their eyes and ears to the truth of your Word. We pray for our families and friends who have not bowed the knee to your Son. We pray for your grace to be shed abroad in their hearts. We further pray for your people to seek first your kingdom and righteousness. Please, our God, make your redeemed people a praying people. Please reign down from heaven an abundance of your Holy Spirit and revive us, we pray. We humbly and boldly bring these things to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
